Bryan & Sonya Hedrick

November 5, 2022 | Knightdale, NC

The Lord began to put adoption on my (Sonya’s) heart about five years before getting married. When my Asian co-worker shared her story about when she was a little girl in her home country, I began to see the need to help little ones who are not able to completely fend for themselves. Years later, Bryan and I were discussing family and realized we share the common interest of adoption, a beautiful metaphor for how God loves us and has adopted us into His family. The Lord blessed us with our only biological child, Hannah. When she was about 5, we began the process of adoption.

Domestic Adoption

Orphan | United States

Since we were older when we began the process of adoption, we decided to pursue a local, domestic infant adoption rather than international, knowing that international adoptions usually take longer. Of course with God's awesome sense of humor and reminder that His ways are so much more perfect than ours, we ended up having to place our adoption on hold for 2 years as Bryan lost his job and searched for a new one. After updating our paperwork, we are finally on the waiting list with an agency in North Carolina. Therefore, we are expecting a call for placement any day! We cannot wait to add another member to our family.

Surrena

Widow | North Carolina

Surrena lost her husband three years ago to cancer. Surrena and Rick had six children, three of which are still school-aged! Surrena works with Sonya at their children’s school. She is such a blessing and serves others with such great humility. As you can imagine, she always has a list of tasks around her home that need some extra hands for completion. Our team is so excited and honored to bless her.

A Different Kind of Fundraiser

A team of volunteers is completing a service project of fixing up a widow's home. We are raising sponsorship for our day of service. The funds raised will help an orphan to become adopted into a forever family. Will you sponsor us?
