Matthew & Jena Kitchen
We’re thrilled to grow our family through adoption! We have wanted to adopt together since engagement, with the desire growing throughout our three years of marriage. Adoption signifies both tragedy and beauty and we hope to foster healing, growth, and joy in our little girl. We see adoption as a picture of the love of Jesus who, when we choose to trust in him, brings us near and has been changing our brokenness into beauty.
Little Girl
We began our adoption in March 2021. We're drawn to international adoption due to the overwhelming number of kids without families worldwide. For example, there are over 30 million orphans in India alone. We are currently waiting to be matched with our little girl from India. We’re intimidated, humbled, and hopeful about parenting transracially and seek to continually learn how to best support her healing journey. As we wait, our love for her grows daily.
Ms. Thelma
Ms. Thelma was the wife of Tommy, a local pastor, for over 50 years before he went to be with the Lord. Tommy continued to be active in his church even after being diagnosed with dementia. Now faced with dementia herself, Ms. Thelma’s younger sister Ms. Esther is her companion and caretaker. We are eager to partner with our friends, family, and members of their church to serve these two ladies.
A Different Kind of Fundraiser
A team of volunteers is completing a service project of fixing up a widow's home. We are raising sponsorship for our day of service. The funds raised will help an orphan to become adopted into a forever family. Will you sponsor us?
