Jonathan & Katie Harlow

April 24, 2021 | Bristol, TN
Jonathan and Katie were college sweethearts who were married in 2012 and started trying to have a family in 2014. In 2015 they gave birth to their first son stillborn at 20 weeks gestation. After becoming pregnant in 2017, doctors discovered that Katie has a blood clotting disorder that tragically affects pregnancy. After a difficult pregnancy, they were able to welcome their son Luke who was born early at 33 weeks. It was shortly after Luke’s birth that the Lord clearly spoke to them both that the rest of their family would be grown through adoption. They began their adoption journey in October of 2019 and were overjoyed to be matched and meet their daughter in February of 2021.

Before we even started the adoption process, we started saving the funds we knew we would need. We were thrilled to be matched with a sweet baby boy due in December at the start of September 2020 right before our first Both Hands project. December came and so did baby's arrival which Katie was able to be intricately a part of. On the day of discharge, Christmas Eve, this sweet babes first mama decided to parent, and though we were sad, we support her in that decision. Less than 2 months later we were matched again with a sweet baby girl who had already arrived. Our adoption totals came in higher than expected exceeding $80,000 due to the failed match and we are currently on a payment plan with our adoption agency to complete the funding of our girl’s adoption. This project is a testament to His promise and for that we are beyond thankful.
