Kurt & Priscilla Johnson

Lexington, KY

Meet the Johnsons: Kurt & Priscilla talked about adoption as a way to grow their family before they were married. After having two beautiful biological daughters, Hazel (7) & Mabelle (4), Priscilla had several health problems as a result of pregnancy and they were advised to no longer pursue biological children. They still wanted to grow their family and felt God was strongly leading them toward adopting. After a move from Missouri to Kentucky in 2013, they felt the Lord strongly begin to tell them to "get out of the boat" and start the adoption process, so they began their homestudy in the Fall of 2014. "We are both so grateful for our own adoptions into the family of God and feel like adopting an orphan in need is a natural way for us to share the love of Christ with our children and others."

Maxwell

Orphan USA

The Johnsons felt called to domestic adoption. Maxwell James Dean was born on August 3 and spent 19 days in the NICU in Utah before he was released. "We are enjoying our days as a family of five, but the financial burden of adoption is still heavy. Our adoption was supposed to be around $40,000, but with extended travel and other expenses, it totals more around $55,000. We are so thankful for our son and have faith that God will provide the remaining monies needed to pay his adoption expenses in full."

Ms. Penny

Widow Lexington, KY

After talking with Penny on the phone, the Johnsons knew that God had placed her in their lives. Penny's husband Derick suddenly passed away 2 years ago in a work related accident. She is able to support herself through her own job, but didn't have the funds to complete needed repairs to her home. She also had several surgeries and illnesses that have left her with very limited mobility. Our team was excited to help make her home a place of pride and pleasant memories, instead of one of sadness and worry.

Our Both Hands Project

Project October 10, 2015

On October 10th, a team of volunteers spent the day fixing up Ms. Penny's home. Penny needed lots of clean up work to make her back yard safe for her and her grandchildren. Her deck needed extensive repairs, as well as some repairs to the fencing, and other general clean up around her property.
