Both Hand’s mission is to fulfill James 1:27 by serving orphans, widows and Christian adoptive families. An adoptive family or group of volunteers find a widow in their community to serve and raise sponsorship for their day of service, with all funds raised going towards an adoption or orphan-related cause. Completing over 1,300+ projects and raising over $19 million, you’ll work alongside a fun, enthusiastic team with a servant’s heart. The Communications Director is a new role to Both Hands, but will be crucial to building our presence in the world of adoption, widow care, and orphan care. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role will lead the strategy and implementation of marketing efforts focusing on two main objectives: increase the number of Both Hands projects and successfully execute our two annual fundraising campaigns that fund the operations of Both Hands. Our marketing manager will report to this role as the Communications Director strategically oversees communication with our current constituents to drive increased engagement. Creativity, a winning drive, entrepreneurial spirit, and a Christ-like attitude is key. A person in this role should also have a passion for adoption, widows, orphans and living out James 1:27.


  • Oversee ongoing strategies for reaching more adoptive families and generating project leads, in collaboration with Executive Director and Marketing Manager (our audience includes Christian adoptive families, orphan care ministries, churches, faith-based businesses, colleges and other groups)
  • Both Hands has begun offering ‘Group Projects’ where any group of volunteers from a church, business, college, etc. can serve a widow and raise funds for adoption grants. We’ve also developed ‘Post-Adoption Projects’ where families can raise funds for medical and therapeutic costs after their child is home. This role would help develop strategies to better launch and raise awareness of these new project types.
  • Ensure Both Hands’ brand consistency across all communication channels
  • Develop and continually monitor annual marketing budget
  • Work with website development team (Louder Agency) to evaluate site updates and improvements to meet key objectives
  • Work closely with ad agency managing SEO, Google Ads and ad grants to analyze results and determine growth opportunities
  • Hire third-party contractors as needed for various design and video work
  • Willingness to write marketing copy, design graphics and edit video as needed
  • Strategize ways to grow Both Hands’ presence and engagement on social media
  • Present marketing updates and key findings during weekly staff meetings
  • Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with Marketing Manager and lead annual performance reviews
  • Represent Both Hands at conferences throughout the year (currently 3-4)


  • 4+ years of Communications, Marketing, or related field experience
  • Experience managing a nonprofit marketing budget preferred
  • Nonprofit and donor CRM experience (such as Virtuous, Salesforce, etc.) a plus
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and all Google Suite applications
  • Must demonstrate sufficient understanding of print and digital marketing and business communication best practices, with excellent organization and communication skills
  • Experience managing an overall web presence, preferably WordPress (Beaver Builder) and tracking conversions using Google Analytics
  • Knowledge of Emma email marketing, Canva, iMovie, Photoshop or InDesign are a plus!
  • Self-motivated problem solver who enjoys working in a collaborative environment
  • Possess a servant’s heart, entrepreneurial spirit, winning drive & willingness to fundraise
  • Must have valid driver license and be willing to run minimal errands when needed
  • Must be willing to travel up to 5-6 times per year to various conferences and events

  • This is a full time position located in Nashville, TN
