Legacy of Hope Foundation

August 3, 2024 | Honduras, OH

Legacy of Hope Foundation provides emergency care to abandoned and at-risk children of all ages in the Western region of Honduras. Our Honduran staff, psychologists, and leadership team work to ensure that each child heals and grows in a safe and loving family environment allowing them to achieve their full potential. Our programs aim to provide intervention and support across the spectrum of care.  At Legacy of Hope, prevention and empowerment are just as crucial as providing refuge and healing.   We are dedicated to working with excellence and implementing best practices as we strive to provide a safe and loving family for every child.

At-Risk Children | Honduras

Legacy of Hope is committed to promoting systemic change; therefore, we are dedicated to working within the Honduran child welfare system to care for victims of trafficking, abuse, neglect, and abandonment. We depend heavily on our government-contracted funds to supplement the support we receive from donors. Often the contract payments are delayed a few months at a time; currently, due to political challenges, the payments have been delayed six months, causing all our reserve funds to be exhausted. Legacy of Hope needs your help to keep our doors open and to continue providing refuge and healing to the children who need it most.

Leticia

Widow | Honduras

Leticia is a 30-year-old mother of 4 boys ages 5, 6, 8, and 12. She lives in a small village outside of Santa Rosa De Copan. Her home is owned by her mother-in-law, who allows her to live there with her children. Leticia's husband died on June 19, 2023, in a motorcycle accident. He was on the way to the bank to run some errands when he had an accident and died instantly as a result of his injuries. Leticia currently supports her children by selling food in a small business owned by her mother-in-law. When she is able to sell all of the food, she receives a small salary. She does what he can to provide for her family but with so many young children it is difficult for her to be away from home to work because she has no one to take care of her children. Leticia and her boys have many needs, some of which include roof repairs, appropriate potable water storage, a concrete floor, food supplements, and proper kitchen utensils. Additionally, the family only has two single beds, and the children sleep in overcrowded conditions. Legacy of Hope's goal for the project will be to improve living conditions, to provide social and emotional support and to help provide sufficient food for Leticia and her growing boys.

A Different Kind of Fundraiser

A team of volunteers is completing a service project of fixing up a widow's home. We are raising sponsorship for our day of service. The funds raised will help at-risk children receive the care they need. Will you sponsor us?

No Administration Fees

We don’t take a penny out of the funds raised for adoption or orphan care for ourselves.

We are committed to doing everything we can to help our Both Hands families afford adoption. That’s why we don't take out any administrative fees from donations to our projects.

We raise funds for our operations separately through support from donors like you. By supporting Both Hands, you help us serve more adoptive families, bless more widows, and bring even more children into their forever families.
