David & Ellen Barnard

September 7, 2024 | Yulee, FL

David is a Diver for the United States Navy and has been in the service for 16 years. We have been married for 10 years. Ellen is currently a stay-at-home mom, who just last year stepped back from her business in women’s health, to help our family transition from WA to FL. We have a 5-year-old daughter (Willow) who can’t wait to be a big sister. She has the kindest heart and can’t wait to help with a new baby!

Our heart for adoption has been a long road, one that has joy and unfortunately loss as well.  We spoke about adoption early in our marriage but wanted to wait until later in life when Dave was retired. We thought we would do foster care.  We have suffered 5 miscarriages over the years and did not feel called to other medical interventions to grow our family. Knowing that we wanted the chance to love another baby, to give our daughter a sibling she has longed for, and knowing we had the love to give despite this future child not being ours biologically, we chose to adopt now instead of later. Loving a child never felt scary. Even the trauma and hardships that comes with adoption didn’t feel scary. We educated ourselves on the realities of adoption and knew we would do whatever it took to help our adopted child through it. We knew our marriage was strong enough, and we individually were strong enough to lean into the hard surrounding adoption. Our story of growing our family comes with trauma, it comes with loss, hardship and pain. Yet we have chosen to love each other through it, unconditionally and we know we can do that for this child.

Domestic Adoption | United States

We are currently working with Christian Adoption Consultants to ensure an ethical adoption. We are with 4 adoption agencies and hope to be matched with a birth mother soon! We trust in God to know what mother and baby we are meant to match with. We trust Him and the wisdom of the birth mother to find the baby that was meant for our family!

Widow | Florida

Irene has been a widow for 2 years now. Her husband worked 2 jobs and maintained the home they built in 2010. Irene still lives in that same home. It's large and hard to maintain on her own. When she is not working she is taking care of her 10 year old Granddaughter who she is legal guardian of. Irene has attended our church since it opened 17 years ago, she volunteers on Sundays and is an active member! Irene has a deep faith in God and is so thankful for the help we will be able to provide. Home repairs are expensive and she is not able to do them herself physically so we are glad we're able to help.

A Different Kind of Fundraiser

A team of volunteers is completing a service project of fixing up a widow's home. We are raising sponsorship for our day of service. The funds raised will help a child to become adopted into a forever family. Will you sponsor us?
