Amanda Shandley joined the Both Hands team in October 2021. Amanda has had adoption on her heart since she volunteered at a camp for foster kids at 16 years old. This led her to study social work in college, build a career advocating for at-risk children and families, and eventually adopt her son in 2016. Amanda’s passion and dream is for every child to know the unconditional love of a family.

Amanda and her husband completed their own Both Hands project in 2014, in preparation for their adoption. To this day she remembers their project as one of the most amazing experiences of her life. She is so excited to be a part of the Both Hands family and get to witness James 1:27 being fulfilled in such a tangible way on a daily basis. Amanda studied social work at Illinois State University and graduated in 2005. She has worked with vulnerable children and families for over 16 years; the previous 11 being in adoption. She and her husband of 17 years, Steve, live just outside Nashville in Lebanon, TN with their three energetic but very sweet children- Benny, Ada, and Jonah.
