Update 2: If someone told me that I would still be trying to bring Haja home almost 4 years later, I never would’ve believed it. We have had twists and turns at every place possible during this adoption. With every new chapter in this adventure, there have been many additional charges. During my third visit to Sierra Leone and a visit to the US Embassy there, we felt confident that Haja was finally coming home. We were all so excited! There finally was about to be a happy ending to this adoption journey. Unfortunately, much to my surprise, two important documents had expired. The embassy wouldn’t issue a visa for her until the documents are again approved. This means another trip and more expenses from the adoption agency. Leaving Haja this time was beyond heartbreaking. We all thought she was finally coming home. Please pray these documents are approved quickly and our girl who’s turning 16 soon will finally have the family she’s been praying for. (February 2025)
After adopting 5 beautiful children, I thought my family was complete. Along came a request for a family for a beautiful young lady in Sierra Leone. Every time I gave God an excuse why I couldn’t adopt, he gave me a reason to adopt. Haja has congenital glaucoma just like my 9 year old. We are so excited for this new adventure. God has performed so many amazing miracles throughout this process so far. We can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Haja
Our adoption from Sierra Leone has been a long adventure with lots of twists. Haja is a beautiful young lady who is in need of medical attention for her congenital glaucoma. She loves Barbies and play dough. She has been in the orphanage for almost 10 years. We can not wait to bring her home soon. Due to some of the requirements at least two trips will be required.
Jan
Jan is a beautiful 85 year old widow. Her husband passed away 20 years ago. Jan taught for over 37 years in public school system, the two way immersion program and in the correctional facility. Jan was in the same Bible study as I was. I prayed for God to give me a name of a widow. He clearly said Jan. When we went to visit Jan and checkout out her home and needed repairs, she mentioned how she was lying in bed praying to God about how she was ever going to get her projects done. God is so good.
A Different Kind of Fundraiser
A team of volunteers is completing a service project of fixing up a widow's home. We are raising sponsorship for our day of service. The funds raised will help an orphan to become adopted into a forever family. Will you sponsor us?
