John & Kara Helton

April 2, 2022 | Newton, NC

We knew adoption would be a part of our family’s story one day. But like so many young couples, we had our own plans and ideas on when and how that would happen! We basically told God our plans and asked Him to make it happen, and to make it easy. As we have matured both in age, and our spiritual walks, we realize this is not how it works. And we are so grateful to serve a loving God who invites US into HIS plans for our family, our calling, and our legacy. After experiencing infertility for many years, we decided being parents was more important than being pregnant. We adopted our daughter from foster care on the exact due date of our biological son. As a family of four, we thought our family was complete! But God had other plans…..

3 Siblings

Orphans | Ukraine

Through orphan hosting we met two of the three kids we are in the process to adopt. We hosted them in our home for six weeks over the summer of 2021. The love that God grew in us for the kids was real- and we also recognized it quickly because it was the same love He grew in us for our daughter. We refused to consider breaking up the two from their older sister, so we are adopting all three. God made a way for us to communicate with the oldest, and we talk daily. The love and bond formed with her is extraordinary. They are from Ukraine, and right now, their world is crumbling even more than what it already has. They have experienced great heartache and trauma, and now they will also be learning how to heal from war trauma.

Mrs. Joyce

Widow | North Carolina

I met Mrs. Joyce at a Bible Study from a local church neither of us attended. It is a non-denominational group of women, and our family had just moved near this church about 1 month earlier. When Joyce walked in, she was wearing a zebra- print shirt, red lipstick and was holding a Mountain Dew. I just KNEW she was my kind of woman and we just had to be friends! We began talking and realized we were actually neighbors. She lives exactly one mile from our home. Over the past 3.5 years, Joyce has become so much more than our friend. We call her our "adopted grandmother"- and we joke this is her title whether or not she wanted to be adopted! She lost her husband 13 years ago to cancer, and we love to hear her stories about their adventures together and their love. Joyce introduced our family to the game of Rummikub, and we try to set aside a weekly night to fellowship with her through dinner and Rummikub.

A Different Kind of Fundraiser

A team of volunteers is completing a service project of fixing up a widow's home. We are raising sponsorship for our day of service. The funds raised will help an orphan to become adopted into a forever family. Will you sponsor us?
